What strategies do you use to cope with negative feelings?

The futility of Negativity!

The great bard famously portrayed in his play Julius Caesar, the story of human life, which is the inevitable encounter with disappointment and negativity.

“Men at some time are masters of their fates:
The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars,
But in ourselves, that we are underlings.”

– William Shakespeare (Julius Caesar)

In the play Cassius tries to convince Brutus to join the plot to kill Julius Caesar. Cassius approaches his task by explaining to Brutus the futility of lamenting at what has been fated in the stars but to realise that in order to gain the upper hand they must strive to take back the power.

So often we find ourselves drowning in sorrow and cumbered with the weight of the expectations of others.

We enter a dark chasm from whence it seems there is no escape.
It is common for people to lash out and try and fight the negativity in their life thrown at them with more negativity, simply directed outward.

This is an utterly futile strategy to cope with the troubles of life. All that one achieves from such an endeavour is to lose one’s peace and pleasant disposition.

As William Shakespeare explains, the only way to fight negativity and disappointment is to recognise that we need a change in the status quo.
To become the masters of our fates, make an effort to change the status quo in our favour through action.

I say, fight negativity with action.. don’t let negativity bring you to a halt. Rather, let negativity catapult you to seize the moment each day.
Realise that your current station is what is limiting you… “The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we are underlings.”
