The Human Condition.

Daily writing prompt
What bothers you and why?

The human condition is what unfolds in our lives day by day… yet no one pays attention.. this is not right! The burden of simply being is not light.. it is crushing on almost a daily basis.

We are born, we struggle to grow up happy, some barely able to make it to adulthood.. still others go gently into that dark night even before life has begun.

We toil to acquire an education, separated by class and caste receiving only the meagre preparations that are requisites for life.

Then begins the great circus of adulthood.. we pine to find a partner, a house and have children. Only to realise we are stuck in jobs that we hate… guess what they hate you right back!

Our shared experience is painted through the colours of hardship, pain and misery dotted with fleeting moments of joy, punctuated with instances of immense loss.

Loss is signified by the denial of something you once possessed and no longer have a hold off.

The loss of the love of your life is as profound a tragedy as any that cannot be illuminated through the medium of language.

In that moment of loss, the reasoning of why you lose them makes no sense.. the purpose will escape you. To perhaps never know the tender touch of their lips or feel the flutter of their lashes.. nor embrace the perfume of their hair..

The realisation of them slip away is akin to that of life itself draining from your body as you are left but a shell of your former self.

You remain helpless only to acknowledge..

“Time and chance happen to them all.”

– Ecclesiastes 9:11

We humans all face the toil that comes our way, made unique for each of us by time and chance in our life. Rest assured though that all of us traverse the same road.

What then should one do you may ask.. the answer is as plain as day.. we must do what we always have go on..

However, true romantics have an ace up their sleeve.. that is to hold on to hope and believe for that is how the impossible is achieved.
