Time is on my side…

Time has to be said seems the proverbial arch enemy of all things. Regardless whether you consider a speck of dust or a blue whale.. or a diamond or a blade of grass.. all things succumb to the passage of time.

All living things cease to exist given a long enough duration of clicks on the gear wheel of time and even inanimate objects undergo weathering and change to eventual oblivion.

Abstract consideration of time and its reach can seem like folly, but there is an aspect of time that human beings have managed to capture.

I’m of course referring to giving time, a normally infinite phenomena, a distinct measure in the form of hours, minutes and seconds.

All us humans can do to exert any control on time is to measure it as it passes us by.

Watches are a means to harness time and use it almost as a utility to live our life…fooling ourselves as though we have mastery over it.

I have a passion for Horology and for collecting timepieces, specially mechanical watches. The artistry, engineering and design involved in making mechanical watches is truly spectacular.

I present a part of my humble watch collection.. covering mostly every category:
Aviation, Diving, Chronograph, GMT and Dress.

My Watch Collection

Panzera Flieger 46

This is a pilot style watch inspired by military Aviators of WWII who first started using wrist watches as a tool in the skies.

Panzera is an Australian watch maker, assembling their creations in Sydney. The watches they make are very high quality and hold true to the design heritage. Excellent timekeepers for their price and offer excellent customer service.

Seiko 5 GMT

Seiko needs no introduction.. with 140 years of illustrious history in Horology.

This is an excellent pairing of sports and travel watch that can be dressed up or down for any occasion. It features a beautiful jubilee style bracelet and rotating bezel with 24 hour markers. It comes with a date and GMT complication.

The GMT complication allows tracking of additional timezones and is quintessential travel companion for jet-setting across the globe. Also has amazing water resistance (200m) so can be used for diving.

It is the newest addition to my collection.

Raymond Weil Maestro MoonPhase

This is a truly stunning Swiss Made dress watch with intricate details on the white dial encompassed by Roman numeral indices, a date window and the masterpiece of the moon phase complication at the 6 o’clock position.

I opted for a mesh bracelet to differentiate from the usual heavy and rather chunky dress watch bracelets. A perfect pairing of dial presence and finesse to accompany me to the more formal settings in my life.

Seiko Prospex Eucalyptus Limited Edition

This timepiece has been designed to exude the spirit of Australian bush in the form of the limited Edition Eucalyptus. The dial and bezel capture the green tinges seen in the iconic gum tree.

A true dive watch with 200m of water resistance, rotating bezel with elapsed time indicators. Suited for the boardroom or aquatic adventures.

With only a 1000 units ever made, it is a special watch I will cherish in my collection.

Tissot PRC 200 Chronograph

The Chronograph has roots back to its use in Astronomy in the 1820’s but became popularised as innovative wristwatches in the early 1910’s and have been linked with the world of racing and precision timekeeping ever since.

From motorsport to horse to yacht racing Chronographs provide a stopwatch at your fingertips.

This Tissot Swiss Made piece features casual and clean designs with 200 m of water resistance it is comfortable on a race track or the high seas.
